Esther Franklin
Thomas Jefferson: Slaves and Culture
Esther Franklin delighted an audience of HAGSA and UUSS
Forum members, on February 23, with an exposition of her latest book.
Sally Hemings, the slave who bore Jefferson’s child, came across as a
particularly interesting and intelligent person. Esther also cast a great
deal of light on the probable nature of Jefferson’s relationship with
Sally.
Following audience questions, Esther autographed copies of
the book and of her previous book.
Those wanting to buy either book should contact the UUSS
Beacon Bookstore at (916) 483-9283, Extension 0.
