Anyone needing an answer to that question should have attended this meeting, where Pat Naylor gave us a thorough and entertaining presentation on this icon of American independence. Pat, who is very knowledgeable about Thomas Paine’s life and times, came equipped with a slide show on her subject. There were about twenty-five of us in the rapt audience, which almost filled the UUSS Lounge. Pat got many of us involved in her talk by asking some of us to read aloud Thomas Paine quotes that she brought with her for the purpose.
